My background
I am Bruce W. Hoffman, DVM co-founder and president of Animal Profiling International. We focus on bringing “management over medicine” technologies to the cattle industry. I grew up on a farm in Indiana and got my undergrad from Montana State University and my DVM at Colorado State University. I practiced in MN at a general practice doing the classic ”All Creatures..” medicine for the first 2 years. I have managed a calf ranch in New Mexico and did feedlot consulting throughout the central states. I was the resident veterinarian and cattle manager for Harris Ranch Feeding Company in Coalinga, CA. Harris is an integrated company with a hotel, restaurant and processing facility. They have been leaders in beef products for the cattle industry. While in CA I had frequent interaction with consumers and retailers and really enjoyed the challenge of educating them on what the strengths of the beef industry are. In 2003, we moved back to Montana to raise our kids in a small community in the Gallatin County at the base of beautiful snow-capped mountains. I continue to work with and enjoy the cattle industry as we work with cattle operations in over 30 states currently providing BVD PI testing and our writeable EID tag called the WriteTAG.
Over the last four years I have focused on working with cattle operations across the U.S. solving the problems of BVD by finding PI cattle that are the reservoir of the virus. I have worked with all sorts of operations and their veterinarians and have had great success in getting both seedstock and commercial operations to test cattle. It is because API has developed an accurate method that can be easily done in the field. My passion has always been to bring technology to production agriculture. We have made progress and continue to learn daily by working with so many cattlemen. I believe that our strength in getting results is that we don’t just talk about it…we get er done!
